Tom Carey is the Founder and Managing Partner of Perspective Group LLC. He specializes in recruiting board directors and CEOs, and has also played a significant role in providing board effectiveness assessment for leading life sciences and healthcare organizations. Leveraging more than 25 years of executive search and life sciences industry experience, Tom advises companies across the healthcare continuum, including pharmaceutical, medical technology, diagnostics, healthcare IT, and various healthcare services entities.
Before founding Perspective Group, Tom spent nearly fifteen years at two leading executive search firms. Most recently Tom led Spencer Stuart’s efforts in life sciences board of director recruitment and advisory services. Prior to that, at Russell Reynolds, he was co-leader of global healthcare practice with primary responsibility for North America.
Prior to entering the executive search industry, Tom held various roles in finance and corporate and business development within the life sciences. Tom worked as an investment banker and as the CFO of both public and private venture-backed healthcare and information technology companies.
Tom is active in youth education and healthcare related nonprofit entities in the Boston area. He is a former member of the board of trustees of the Inner-City Scholarship Fund, a nonprofit entity responsible for providing scholarships to inner-city youth, and currently serves on the board of Catholic Charities, whose broad mandate includes fostering the health and education of children. Tom also serves on the Board of Exact Sciences Corporation (NASDAQ: EXAS), a publicly traded molecular diagnostic Company.
Tom received his B.S. in physics from the College of the Holy Cross and his M.M. in management policy from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Marshall Crane is a co-founder and Partner of Perspective Group. He was most recently the Founder and Managing Director of Crane Nobile Partners, a retained executive search firm serving the biopharmaceutical marketplace. His prior experience includes three years with Catalyst Advisors LLC and ten years as a member of the Global Healthcare Sector at Russell Reynolds Associates.
He has specialized in senior-level recruitment for biopharmaceutical companies located in the United States and abroad. Marshall has developed expertise in areas including, commercial operations, drug development, key corporate positions and general management. He has also worked on the recruitment of non-executive directors for the portfolio companies of several leading life sciences venture investment firms.
Marshall received his B.A. from Wesley College, and his M.B.A. from Fordham University in Manhattan.
Noël Auguston is a Partner at Perspective Group, focusing on the innovative healthcare space. She leads the firms efforts around healthcare information technology (HIT) and digital health, specializing in senior-level executive recruitment across a broad range of functions. She partners with VC/PE investor backed clients and public entities working across provider, payor, digital, and consumer-driven ventures. She also works across the biopharmaceutical and healthcare services sectors to place key leaders who will drive growth and change within organizations.
Noel has spent nearly 15 years in healthcare. Previously, she spent nine years at Spencer Stuart working broadly across the global life sciences practice. She led the firms efforts around healthcare technology and digital health, working to build the vertical and help companies build out their executive teams. She has a successful track record of recruiting across a diverse set of functions at the C-level, board, CFO, as well as sales and marketing, services, business development and strategy roles.
Noël began her career at Johnson & Johnson, where she held progressive roles in sales and marketing management. She worked widely across key academic and hospital systems, developing strategies specifically for a key blockbuster product in oncology.
She holds an M.B.A. from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and a B.S. in general management and marketing from Boston College. She is an active mentor and alumnus of both institutions.
Sara DeAmicis is the Senior Associate and the Head of Research at Perspective Group. She participates in the full continuum of the search process, with a particular focus on setting and executing search strategy. Sara has over twelve years of retained executive search experience in the life sciences industry within the US and Europe. Her search experience includes time spent with both Spencer Stuart and Russell Reynolds Associates, where she was seconded to the London office over the course of 2007-2008. Sara has conducted searches across the entire spectrum of healthcare, though specializes in the biopharmaceutical market at the Board and C-Suite level. Sara received an M.P.H. from Boston University and a B.S. in Health Sciences from the State University of New York, College at Brockport.
Lee joined Perspective Group at its inception in 2015 and is the Executive Assistant to Tom Carey. Prior to that, Lee was with Spencer Stuart where she worked in the Life Sciences Practice supporting executive search teams with project management and administrative functions. From 2007 to 2013, Lee was the executive assistant to the CEO of Northeast Health System until its merger with the Lahey Clinic. She began her career as a legal secretary with McDermott Will & Emery where she supported senior level partners for 20 years in the corporate and health departments.
Joan Conway is the Business Manager at Perspective Group where she manages the client accounts and office administration. Joan has more than 30 years of business expertise in many industries. She has an extensive background in assisting entrepreneurial companies develop solid accounting and administrative infrastructures. Some of the entrepreneurial companies include: Xconomy, Firecracker, PillPack, Sample 6 Technologies, Excera Orthopedics, Outsmart Power Systems, Olaris Therapeutics and Accion Systems.
Joan holds an MBA from Babson College and is a licensed CPA.
Chrystal McDonald joined Perspective Group as an Executive Assistant in 2016. Chrystal held various administrative and human resources support roles in biotech for more than fifteen years. Chrystal comes to Perspective Group from Sanofi Genzyme where she spent four years as Senior Human Resources Assistant before transitioning into the Multiple Sclerosis Business Unit. While in the MSBU, she served as Senior Administrative assistant in Patient and Provider Services and most recently supported the Commercial training team as MS Sales Training Specialist. Chrystal received her Master of Science degree in Mass Communications and B.S. in Journalism, both at Boston University.
Alison Finn joined Perspective Group as a Research Analyst in May 2016. Prior to joining the executive search firm, she spent two years in the medical device industry at Boston Scientific as a grant coordinator and international KOL specialist in the Endoscopy division. Prior to Boston Scientific, she completed an internship at Becton, Dickinson and Company as a Corporate Communications associate.
Alison received her B.A. in Chinese from the College of the Holy Cross
Emilee Herringshaw joined Perspective Group as a Research Analyst in September 2016. While at Boston College, she co-founded The Medical Humanities Journal of Boston College, a multidisciplinary publication attending to issues of health, illness, disease and bioethics. She also conducted research in the Boston College Chemistry Department, where she worked to engineer novel amino acids as site specific labeling probes. Emilee received her B.S. in Biochemistry from Boston College, with a minor in Medical Humanities, Health and Culture.
Casey Patch joined Perspective Group in September 2016. During college, he spent two years as a Research Intern in the hESC Core at Children’s Hospital Boston optimizing the protocol for CRISPR/Cas9 gene replacement experiments in induced pluripotent stem cells. Using data from this research, he wrote his Honors Thesis for the Boston College Biology Department. Casey received his B.S. in Biochemistry from Boston College.
